To Kickstart This Blog

So right now I am avoiding emptying out the dishwasher. Tough chore, I know. It’s one of those tedious tasks that bothers me to the core. Especially the silverware. When I was a kid and my mom would ask me to empty the dishwasher, I would say, after a groan, “Only if YOU put the silverware away.” I’d much, much rather wash a sink full of dishes than put them away. There are just some chores that drive me up a wall. Nails on the chalkboard.

Dusting. A bane of my existence.

Yesterday my mom explained to me what she wanted done in the garden and I am pretty certain I epically failed. She’s on her way home right now and I really hope she doesn’t look out the kitchen window to the monstrosity that is the result of my black thumb. Gardening is a housewife trait I do not possess.

I just went outside to inspect the damage again. What stood out was that my mother’s new tool (part hoe, part trident), which was perfectly clean yesterday, is now caked in dry mud from my escapade. I also managed to crush a flower plant that I re-potted yesterday. I think I’ll stick to being crafty.

Yesterday I also attempted to paint. With gouache. The gouache behaved for the most part, but the only thing that did not come out completely cartoon-y was an orange. Which could be mistaken for a ball.

Humans are most critical of what they love the most, are they not?

On the plus side, I am getting a digital SLR! That’s right! A new Canon EOS Rebel XT! After 3 weeks of dancing around this with my father and mother, I finally sealed the deal. I kept sending them “preferred options” since before my birthday and they never bit which ones they wanted to pay for. Especially my dad. Geez.

I am very, very happy with what I’m getting. More accurately, REALLY STOKED. I will have a bit to play around with it before Germany!

Shoot, did it come with a memory card? Yikes.
